  • 1797: The frigate Constitution, also known as "Old Ironsides", is launched in Boston Harbor.

World standards Day

21st October is also celebrated as World Standards Day. The day was established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 1946 to raise awareness about the importance of standardization in improving the quality of life.

Standardization is the process of developing and agreeing on technical specifications that are used to ensure compatibility, safety, and quality of products and services. 

World Standards Day is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of the many people who work to develop and implement standards. It is also a day to raise awareness about the importance of standardization in our everyday lives.


International Day of Air Traffic Controllers

21 October is also celebrated as International Air Traffic Controllers Day. The day was established in 1996 by the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers Associations (IFATCA) to recognize the vital role of air traffic controllers in ensuring the safety of air travel.

 

Air traffic controllers are responsible for directing and monitoring aircraft traffic to ensure safe and efficient movement through airspace. They work in a variety of settings including control towers, radar rooms, and flight service stations.
